This is a guest post from filmmaker Ian Reid. Ian's film, 'Virginia Sky', reminds me of how fortunate we are to live in the DMV, how accessible the films featured spots (and many others) are to us all, and how most of us do not take advantage, and visit them
My thanks to Ian for a beautiful film and reminding us what beauty is just a short distance away.
I've been thinking a lot lately about how much life we miss out on by thinking that rest requires a trip to the Caribbean or that to experience beauty requires a red-eye to France. Perhaps we're closer to paradise than we think. Perhaps we just have to look around us. With that thought, my team and I journeyed to the backyard of the nation's capital - the countryside of Northern Virginia. In such wild and pristine scenery it was hard to remember that we were just minutes away from an international city like Washington, DC.
All locations featured are within an hour and a half of DC:
- Harpers Ferry, WV
- The Potomac River
- The Shenandoah River
- Paris, VA
- The Blueridge Mountains
- Berryville, VA
